What is Certification

The Florida Certification Board sets the standard for three levels of classification of Addictions Professionals: The Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC), and Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS).

Matrix Addictions Training provides training in addictions counseling to meet state requirements for certification in each of the three classifications.

• Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) – for those individuals who hold a Bachelors degree (minimum). Matrix Addictions Training, Inc. offers the required 350 hours of education needed to meet the Certification Board requirements.
• Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) – is an intermediate stage of professional development for those individuals who hold an Associates degree or high school diploma/GED. Matrix Addictions Training, Inc. offers the required 250 hours of education needed to meet the Certification Board requirements.
• Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS) – is the primary stage of professional development for those individuals who hold no academic degree. Matrix Addictions Training, Inc. offers the required 150 hours of education needed to meet the Certification Board requirements.

Each classification has its own supervision requirements. Matrix Addictions Training, Inc. also offers clinical supervision to meet the Certification Board requirements, post-completion of the required coursework.

Carol or Sloane will meet with each student individually to evaluate their needs and develop a personalized curriculum.

Matrix Addictions Training, Inc. was opened in 2007 by Dr. Carol L. Clark, LMHC, CAP and Sloane Veshinski, LMFT, CAP in an effort to provide comprehensive addictions training for those individuals interested in Florida state certification and continuing education in the substance abuse field.

Classes are currently meeting on Friday nights from 6:00 to 9:30
